    Holes should not be too far apart, roughly an inch (2.5 cm) or less.

    Holes should not be too close together as to weaken the edge of the plates.

    Place a little pencil mark to help re-align the plates., Do not use objects that would be hazardous for the children., Glue the plates together., Draw pictures or words with markers., Have the children make their own rhythms with the shaker by shaking it up and down, from side to side and round and round.
