Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Open the Synaptic Package Manager.

    This can be done in Ubuntu in the Search Menu.

    In other distributions, it should be located under system menu.

    For Xubuntu and Kubuntu users, you can download this software from the Ubuntu Software Center.
  2. Step 2: Search for the application you wish to download.

    This can be done in the top-right corner, where you will see an entry for a quick search. , Right-click the entry you wish to install, and click Mark for Installation.

    You might be required to install several other packages that go with the one you wish to install. , In the top tool bar, you will see an Apply icon (with a return icon).

    Click it.

    A new window will pop up, displaying the list of items to install.

    Just click Apply. , You will need an internet connection during this step.

    Furthermore, you may want to check the box Automatically close after changes have been successfully applied. , The small box located at the left of the entry should be highlighted green. , It should be ready to use.

    Some programs may require a restart before using.
