Step 1: Attach the chuck to the lathe according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Once centered, tighten the clamping screws to secure the drill. ,, Ensure that you do not loosen the tool post bolt or compound rest nuts since the tool post is already squared to the work piece.
Also make sure that the center of the center drill is the same distance as the center of the drill bit from the back of the tool post.,, Use cross slide to align the center of the center drill with the center of the chucked drill or center and lock cross slide if possible. ,,,,,,,,, -
Step 2: Loosen off the chuck

Step 3: mount your work into the chuck and then re-tighten the chuck.

Step 5: Mount a lathe center in the tailstock.

Step 6: Place the drill with the square split bushing into the tool post and shim or adjust to ensure that the drill center lines up with the lathe center.

Step 7: Square the drill bit to the side of the work piece using paper feelers and tighten the tool post bolt or compound rest nuts.
