Step 1: Remove the four AA batteries that power the IRC unit.
This will ensure that no electricity is flowing through the unit as you are taking it apart.
Leaving the backing on is optional, but in this example it is left off to show that the batteries have indeed been removed. -
Step 2: Put the unit face down and you will notice that there are six screws that need to be removed.
Remove them carefully so as not to strip them and store the screws in a safe location so that you do not lose them. , You will notice two small screws, again remove these carefully and store them somewhere safe. ,,, Remove it and store it with the rest of the screws.
The chipboard can then be gently pulled out and left to rest beside the unit.
Note that it cannot be completely removed as it is attached to the screen. , Now that you've cleaned the unit, it's time to put it back together. ,, Put both halves of the unit back together. ,,, You have successfully cleaned your IRC unit. -
Step 3: Look at the front of the unit (where the infrared sensor is).

Step 4: Now the unit can be separated into two parts

Step 5: one containing the screen and chip board

Step 6: the other the faceplate and keypad by gently pulling them apart.

Step 7: Using a damp cloth wash the faceplate and the keypad until they are squeaky clean.

Step 8: There is one more screw located near the bottom of the chip board that you can remove.

Step 9: Use your damp cloth again to wipe out any dust that has accumulated underneath the chipboard.

Step 10: Put the chipboard back into place and screw it in.

Step 11: Grab the faceplate and keypad and put them together.

Step 12: Flip the unit over and screw in the six locations on the back.

Step 13: Find the holes on the front of the unit and screw in the final two screws.

Step 14: Put the batteries back in

Step 15: close the battery cover and you're done!
