Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Remove any old roofing

    Removing old roofing is not always necessary; check with local building codes.

    Often, torch down roofing can be installed directly on top of old roofing.
  2. Step 2: debris

  8. Step 8: Roll the first layer of modified bitumen over the fiberglass sheet.

  9. Step 9: Cut the layer of modified bitumen to size using a knife.

  10. Step 10: Roll up one half of the modified bitumen so that one half of the fiberglass sheet is exposed.

  11. Step 11: Begin firing the underside of the modified bitumen using the flame torch using slow

  12. Step 12: steady motions to heat the bitumen evenly.

  13. Step 13: Roll the bitumen back onto the fiberglass sheet as it begins to liquefy

  14. Step 14: pressing it down with your boot so that it adheres.

  15. Step 15: Finish firing and applying the first half of bitumen.
