Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Open up Paint Shop Pro.

    Be sure that you are in the Full Editor. , It's a good idea to have something that stands out from the background.

    Get rid of a lot of the background by cropping. ,, As you get more of the background removed, you will need to zoom in closer to see any remaining pieces of the background. ,,,, This will help you find any errant pieces of background.

    Flood fill it with a color to help you see the upper layer.

    Between using the layer and the selection, you can see where any problem might be. ,,, The number of pixels that you contract will vary depending on the size of your image. , This will give your design a realistic drop shadow.

    You might also want to save it without a drop shadow for any changes you might want to make later.

    Be sure to save it in the native PSP format, so you have more options. ,, You can't export multiple layers.,, It should be somewhat descriptive.
