Step 1: Cut the apple into quarters.
Remove the core and peel and grate each piece. ,, Keep aside one tablespoon for the end of the recipe.
Mix the remaining chopped pistachios with the powdered almonds, apple, cinnamon and icing sugar., Let it cool down again.
Preheat the oven to 150ºC., Lay down 2 filo sheets.
Brush the sheets with melted butter.,,, Continue with layering and brushing over the melted butter until all sheets are added.,,,, Once cooled, cut through each piece completely to separate the baklava sections., Sprinkle icing sugar and caster sugar over the top of each piece.
Finish off with a touch of chopped pistachios for each piece.
If wished, add a dollop of cream to each piece of baklava for serving and a sprig of mint. -
