How to Modify a Ghe Waterfarm
So you have a waterfarm from Ghe and you are amazed at the results that can be obtained from using one of these "farms" , with a few simple to do modifications and a few simple tools you can transform you farm into a combined DWP system as well...
Step-by-Step Guide
-
Step 1: So you have a waterfarm from Ghe and you are amazed at the results that can be obtained from using one of these "farms"
Water drains through the top bucket and back into the reservoir area at the bottom of the larger bucket. ,,,,,,,, As soon as the roots hit the nutrient tank watch the explosive growth start. ,, Growers use DWP on their own and achieve amazing results so adding this to the waterfarm's own results is a win win situation. -
Step 2: with a few simple to do modifications and a few simple tools you can transform you farm into a combined DWP system as well.
-
Step 3: The waterfarm is essentially two buckets sitting inside each other with the top bucket shorter in length to form a reservoir area at the bottom of the buckets.
-
Step 4: The nutrients etc are pumped up from the reservoir by way of an airstone at the bottom of a white uplift tube and connected to a dripper ring
-
Step 5: the nutrients are drawn up the tube and through the dripper ring where they drain through the hydroponic medium and back into the reservoir.
-
Step 6: The top bucket has holes drilled in the base of the bucket to allow water to drain through
-
Step 7: step one in turbo charging your farm is to increase the amount of holes in the top bucket .
-
Step 8: The more holes the better
-
Step 9: this allows the water to drain freely back into the reservoir .
-
Step 10: Now feed another airline down through one of the holes you have drilled which will connect onto your airpump and also onto an airstone which will sit directly in the nutrient tank.
-
Step 11: Connect up the airstone to the new airline.
-
Step 12: Now the only remaining thing for you to do is connect up and good quality twin outlet airpump
-
Step 13: connect one outlet to the airstone and the remaining outlet to the uplift tube.
-
Step 14: Now if you have read this far you will be wondering why these simple modifications can improve such an established hydroponic system such as the Ghe Waterfarm.
-
Step 15: More holes allow faster draining but also allows more holes for roots to get down into the nutrient tank which is being aerated by the airstone.
-
Step 16: Using a larger airpump allows more nutrients to be fed through the dripper ring and drain through the clay pebbles etc and back into the reservoir
-
Step 17: moving water absorbs oxygen which is good for plants.
-
Step 18: Adding an airstone to the reservoir makes your standard waterfarm instantly a DWP system as well for simply drilling a hole and feeding an airline.
