Step 1: Know that camping is allowed only in the 2 main sections of Ray Roberts Lake State Park: Isle du Bois and Johnson Branch.
Isle du Bois, on the south side of the lake, is the older campground located in Denton County.
Johnson Branch Unit, on the north side of the lake, is in Denton and Cooke counties.
Both overnight units have a complex manager and assistant manager. -
Step 2: Pay entrance fees to enter the park at Lake Ray Roberts.
In 2010, the entrance fee was $5 per day for visitors age 13 and older.
Entrance fees are separate from camping fees, which range from $12 to $25 per night.
Visitors with a Texas State Parks Pass, Bluebonnet Pass or Youth Group Annual Entrance Permit have reduced entrance and camping fees. ,, Texas camping regulations allow up to 24 people at the Lake Ray Roberts group camp.
Group camping is only available at Isle du Bois at $30.
Isle du Bois group campgrounds is a walk-in campsite.
Equipment must be carried from .25 to .5 miles (0.80 km).
Each campsite provides a table, tent pad, lamp post and fire ring.
Water is available in the group campground. , Developed tent campsites are available in the Wild Plum and Hawthorne areas.
Campers must walk in from 1/8 to .25 miles (0.40 km).
RV sites with electrical and water hookups are available.
Thirteen of the 115 sites have 50 amp electric hookups instead of the standard
30.
Equestrian campsites are in Blue Stem Grove and include hitching posts.
The combination of people and horses at each site cannot exceed
