Step 1: In pencil
On the left side, about halfway down the centre line, mark a point a bit beyond the head and draw lines to it.
On the other side, draw a curve from the head to a point on the baseline about two head-widths away from the centre line. -
Step 2: draw some guidelines – a horizontal baseline at the bottom
Draw ovals on either side of the point for the haunches – one half-hidden behind it. ,, This is also a good time to think about where to add some fur texture.
Don't add it all over, just suggest it with a few lines where there may be some change in the fur's direction, or some shadow. ,,, Use short strokes around the edge of dark patches to look like fur. -
