How to Create Material in Gimp to Use in Sculptris

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Start up Gimp and create a New file.
File >> New or Ctrl + N -
Step 2: Select the primary color that you want your material to be.
Once you have it selected, click on the bucket fill tool and fill your square with the primary color.
In the case of the screenshot, the square will be a shade of blue. , Do as much or as little as you like. ,, Be sure not to select anything out of the sphere. ,,, Click on Scale. , If you haven't yet, save your image.
Save it as a BMP. , As before, be sure not to select anything out of the sphere. , Click on Selection >> Invert. , You will need this to make it transparent.
You will need the HTML designation for it. , Do this by clicking on Layer >> Transparency >> Color to Alpha. , Click OK.
Your background should be transparent and you will see a checkered background. ,, You might want to give it a distinctive name for created files. , This will add your new sphere to the options. -
