Step 1: Take your HEPA filter cartridge out of the fan base unit.
Viva brand paper towels work about the best because they are rather dense and cloth-like, however any paper towel will do.
Another towel that is good is Bounty. ,,, When you do so, you will notice a dense dust buildup on the paper towel that you are preventing from clogging up the HEPA filter itself, thereby extending its useful life--and reducing your replacement costs! , Also, it is very effective in extending the life of the expensive filters. -
Step 2: Cut a paper towel to fit over the HEPA filter snugly using scissors.

Step 3: Cover the outside (room side) of the HEPA filter with the fitted paper towel.

Step 4: Reassemble the HEPA filter to the fan base unit.
