  1. Step 1: Boot the Windows Server.

    Boot the computer on which you installed Windows Server 2012 R2, if it is not running.

    Log on to the server when it completes booting.

    Notice that Server Manager is displayed upon a successful login using the Administrator account at console logon prompt..
  2. Step 2: Navigate to System menu#* Click Start

    Click Control Panel.

    Click System to display its contents. , Click Advanced system settings to display System Properties.

    Click Computer Name.

    Notice Full computer name:
    Click Change Type w12r2a10 in the box Computer name:
    Click OK.

    Click OK on the Computer Name/Domain Changes popup.

    Click Close on System Properties.

    Click Restart Now. , Log on to the server when it completes booting.

    Click Start, the Windows logo, on the bottom left of your display.

    Click the down arrow.

    Scroll right.

    Click Command Prompt.

    Type hostname to display the new computer name.
